Genealogical studies of Bassett Families have been made by their descendants in various parts of the world and the contemporary Bassett Family Association has been revived from an original started in 1897. Althoug individuals born outside Britain may be included the emphasis of this website is on Bassett families in Britain.Currently there are only a few family trees on this site but more will be added as work progresses. The Master Database of Bassetts includes all Bassett records collected so far and as links are found the separate families will be identified. It is a database rather than a family tree and can be reached by entering "Bassett" into the search box or through Albums where details of both the database and the Bassett Trees can be found. To see the ALBUMS go to the Media tab at the top right of the screen.

HENRY BASSETT and ANN who had their son BENJAMIN BASSETT baptised at the Church of St Thomas a Beckett at Cliffe,Lewes,Sussex on the 4th October 1807. A great deal is known about the descendants of Benjamin but nothing is known of his parentage or childhood.None of the married Henry and Ann couples recorded at that time in England could have been his parents by reason or age or of other babies born within the same year. It has been concluded that Henry and Ann may not have been married and that Henry may have subsequently married another woman.Further information will be welcomed.
